Xmas Drinks and Larchmont Films workshop

The new invite for December just went out as I mastered mailchimp templates this week with the help of lovely Charlie (bbq) Langridge of Ganda media down at Madame Geisha's. With Kalani in tow I popped in to see him on Thursday for a quick mailchimp training session, we both ended up running after Lani who found Charlie's vibrating machine (yes ahem v interesting adn actually sorts jumbled paper out if you really want to know) fun to play with.

Larchmont Films have been in touch and I added their fabulous film workshops to the December invite, Philip of Larchmont drinks Small Batch coffee like moi so we got chatting and as a result i'm connecting all Green Roomers with his enterprise.

Also in the invite is the date (20th December) for our Xmas drinks, location is of course my favourite pub, The Lion and Lobster from 7.30pm hope to see you there am being pulled away by a feisty 2 year old.........

what to do next? Larchmont Films workshop and Indiecan Event

Hi Green Room followers

I've taken a break from this blog but i'm back. I've stopped working at DLT Entertainment (they brought in a new distribution arm which did not include me!) and I"m looking at what to do next? Interesting position to be in right now....I'm thinking about continuing the Green Room media networking drinks aspect and perhaps developing other aspects to this. I'll be meeting with my core group soon. Larchmont Films are doing a film workshop in December which i'll be sending some information out to you all via the mailchimp account. In brief here is their blurb:

Hello,
We thought Green Room members, or friends, might be interested in some practical DIY filming courses Larchmont Films are starting this winter. We know that many freelance creatives and businesses would love to make their own online videos, but don't have the technical skills. We have set up these workshops to offer an affordable and fun opportunity to learn these practical skills, network with like minded people, and discover what video can do for your marketing and communications.

We now have two dates live on Eventbrite, Saturday 1st December and Friday 18th January.

Also Indiecan are doing an event this THURSDAY:

In brief it's a monthly show dedicated to the independent film industry that will be both informative and entertaining with such sections as 'On location', 'How do They Do That', 'Filmset Jargon', 'DIY' and 'Film Of The Month' to name a few.

Well our first episode, a Halloween inspired special is having a private screening with a launch party to mark this milestone, it's this coming Thursday, in Brighton and all the info is on the attached invite.

It would be great to see as many of you there as possible as it will also be a good networking opportunity for those in the business, if you're not able to make it then drop by our website to find out more about the show  and like us on facebook for further updates.

Party with Green Room and See Festival

Hi to all Green Room Followers, This is Nathalia Suarez, I'm the new Green Room Intern and this is my very first time writing to you on this blog ( Very exciteeeed...). I feel very enthusiastic about this new challenge in my life in which I'm looking to contribute proactively to the Green Room team, learn all what I can from all of you media people and also it makes me very motivated the idea of meeting new people and  making new friends.

Undoubtedly, The See Festival Launch Party in association with Wired Sussex and Green Room at Sticky Mike's Frog Bar, was the best way to start  this year our monthly networking events for TV and film people. Before the party, 'Life in a Day', a ground breaking documentary was screened downstairs, followed by   premiering clips and Q&A by Morgan Matthews, Director and Billy Dosanjh, Editor for the forthcoming  'Britain in a Day'. On Sunday, I had the great opportunity to see 'My New Home', an excellent and very touching documentary, directed by Daisy Asquith, which is a series about immigrant children moving to Britain to start their new lives, a vivid reality of experiences for the children and their families in which you can clearly see the process of how they have been affected by coming to live in the UK. They were filmed regularly for 5 years from the moment they stepped off the planes, when they were 11 years. When the documentary finished, it was fantastic to have a Q&A session with Daisy and the three children and their mothers.

By now just saying I'm very happy to be part of Green Room team group and I hope to meet you all at our forthcoming networking event, which details will be confirmed very soon.

Please find below some pictures from the See Festival Launch Party in association with Wired Sussex and Green at Sticky Mike's Frog Bar.

Green Room co hosts See Festival launch party

It's been a busy few months and I've managed to gain a new intern , the lovely and talented Nathalia Suarez. To kickstart our Green Room year of events we're co hosting the See Festival launch party click here for more info: http://seefestival.org/programme/launch-weekend/launch-party.html

We hope to see you there at Sticky Mikes Frog bar in Middle St Brighton at 9pm on 24th March.

With MIPTV coming up at the end of the month I'm busy trying to organise my diary there. yesterday I popped in to London to attend a seminar on this very theme it was run by PACT. I enjoyed hearing Andrew Baker from Rights TV speak about co pro's etc and being told by the Pitch Doctor to change my inner naggy voice to a mickey mouse character which will apparently boost my self esteem !!
very funny, probably works though haven't tried it yet.....

Last  month the groomers met up for a quick drink at the Dorset bar in the north laines, a low key affair where we plotted the year ahead for Green Room. rebecca Watkin who is now working and (re inventing might I add) Wired Sussex came along and gee ed us all up with her idea for this months party.
The See festival itself looks to be an inviting event as usual and cannot wait to see everyone at the party. toodle pip.

new intern for Green Room

So Susan and I had a lovely brunch at Ethels, I had the muffins with smoked salmon and hollandaise sauce and she the veg breakfast, washed down with a ginger/apple/carrot smoothie and then a gingerbread latte. I suggested that I should probably think about an intern to help me with Green Room as I never seem to have the time what with juggling parenthood, my job in London etc. We need to attract people down there, more drinks promos, sexier guests....So i've put an ad on gumtree and have registered with intern Brighton so lets see who turns up....

Brunch at Ethels

Off to Ethels on Blatchington road at 11am to meet Susan from BTV. We need to have a good ole brainstorming session about how to get more freelancers to attend our Green Room events. We need to know what would people like to see in the space? More speakers, more drinks promos? Famous faces? peter andre? I don't know am juggling my job in London, a 11 month old baby and moving house next week so Green Room often takes a back seat....I'd be so happy to get more input. I do still think we need a Brighton based drinks social network event down here but if people don't come along then we're doing something wrong......
